U9s Eagles vs Walshaw Sports Club Dragons (H) - 8th Oct 2022
Another game of 2 halves
Match Report
The boys were asked at the start to be more involved than they were in the 1st half of the last game, I wanted everyone to TRY and beat their man that might of been in front of them and to work hard and the 1st half they did not disappoint, two of the goals involved everything from individual skills to beat the player to quality finishing. I also asked them to make it hard to choose the man of the match and each player in the 1st half were contenders.
James getting on the score sheet twice with some top finishing, after some good footwork and also a brilliant assist from Charlie BXD who beat his man in the middle of the pitch looked up and put a wonderful through ball for James to finish well with some composed finishing.
Not to be outdone, Issac got in on the "brilliant assist" action with a piece of class footwork to again beat the player in front of him while playing at the back and playing a through ball for Charlie BXD to finish. I know encouraging them to be brave in front of their own goal will sometimes end up with us loosing possesion but if they don`t learn at u9, then they never will.
Unfortunately we let them back into the game in the 2nd half and within a few minutes it was 3-3, however maybe a bit of tiredness from the exertions in the 1st half might be a contributory reason.
Somewhat lucky to get a 4th for the winner by an OG by the keeper, who had an outstanding game but it did follow a decent corner into the danger area.
Man of the match voted by the parents - Teddy for this tackling, bravery and improving on the weight of his pass.
