U11s Emeralds vs Ramsbottom Rockets (A) - 26th Mar 2023

Match Report

A 3-1 defeat away against Ramsbottom Rockets this morning for the Emeralds.

Another closely fought game which the girls probably didn't deserve to lose. Just needed to defend a bit better really.

In the first half, Emeralds were probably the better side for most of the half, but couldn't find a way through. Concentration dipped towards the end of the half though, with Ramsbottom grabbing 2 goals just before half time.

The second half was again close, with both sides creating chances and both keepers doing well. We won a penalty late on, which Lily cooly put away to make it 2-1. However, concentration seemed to lapse again with Ramsbottom finding lots of space and getting a 3rd goal to finish the game 3-1.

Great effort again though and the scoreline doesn't really reflect how evenly matched it was.

POTM was Alexis, who again went in goal and produced some excellent saves. One in the second half was probably the save of the season. (At least the opposition coach said so!)
