U9s Eagles vs Cheetham Hill Yellows (A) - 4th Mar 2023

Much improved team performance!

Match Report

Much Improved performance by the whole team, Final score 5-3 Milnrow Eagles.

Milnrow started the game well and went 2-0 up and deservedly so.
Every player playing their part.

Unfortunately a breakdown in communication allowed Cheetham Hill to get a goal back to make it 2-1.
That said, the team continued in the 2nd half how they started and really looked like they were playing together as a team as opposed to individuals. Awareness being shown a number of times to find players in space with forward passes to create 1v1 and 2v1 opportunities.

The game ended 5-3, and man of the match was quite tough to choose, but voted for by the parents - Charlie Baxendale got it - bringing the ball out of defence calmly on a number of occasions, and whilst under pressure, having the composure to beat his player and then start an attack.

Charlie asked a few weeks ago to play in a different position than defence, and got a chance to play elsewhere but chose to play in defence today and his composure, timing and decision making was of the highest standard.

Goal scorers, Archie, Taylor (x2), James (x2) - I think ?, And all 5 goals were impressive, some involving individual brilliance such as Archie's powerful run to get past the defenders to put the ball into the net, and others involved teamwork and team play to put the through ball in such as James and Taylor.

The coach from Cheetham Hill has contacted me to see that we`ve made great progress since the last time we played them (we lost the last time) and they are looking forward to the next time we meet.
Also hes reached out to say thanks to my 13 year old son, Ben who refereed for us and commend him on his refereeing performance.

Also, welcome to Curtis whom played his first game for Eagles u9s.
