Milnrow Juniors Eagles v Radcliffe Juniors Blues - 1st Apr 2023

Match Report

Milnrow u9 Eagles lost to Radcliffe Rebels 3-1 today, although the final score doesn’t reflect the work rate the whole team put in for the majority of the game.

We played this team a few weeks ago and after 10 minutes we were 4 goals down so it’s a massive improvement.

Unfortunately we went 2-0 down in the first half and the first two goals came from not being switched on and it’s frustrating that they came from the Eagles just letting the Radcliffe team dribble through them and not even put a challenge in 😡

That said, after the 2 goals were conceded, the work rate and determination to win the ball back was massively improved throughout the team and could not be faulted - a number of players needing to come off for a breather is an example of how hard they were working.

Second half ended 1-1, although it felt like a win!

I asked the team to see if they can at least get a goal and Taylor did so with a good finish and the team deserved to get on the scoresheet.

Man of the match voted by the referee Ben and also by the parents, goes to Charlie who built on his keeper of the week at POGS last night with a brilliant performance in goals today.

If we can start games like we finish them then we can build on this, but it needs players to be on time so they can get a good pre-match warm up.
