Milnrow Sharks U9’s 🦈 got their first win of the season this morning with a 2-0 home win against Shawside Lionesses 🦁
The Lionesses were a tenacious team and the first half was close with neither team creating any real chances. Milnrow positionally solid and defending well.
Second half Finley Eglen came on into centre back alongside Elliott Smith allowing George Rowland-Mills to push up into Midfield and this helped put pressure on the Lionesses which culminated with Albie Rowe scoring a goal to put the Sharks 1-0 up.
The Sharks switched off after the goal, the next few minutes were scrappy with Milnrow allowing the Lionesses a chance to get back in the game but defending well to stop the danger. A few minutes later and a surprisingly composed touch from Finley Eglen in defence took him round the centre forward and his pass down the line allowed Tyler Clough to run through and score, putting Milnrow 2-0 up.
The scoreline ending 2-0 for the first win of the season 🙌🥳🙌🥳
Player of the Match going to Jake Whittaker who was brilliant in midfield, battled well, tackled well and made some really good forward runs with the ball.
