U9s Eagles vs Elton & Walshaw Cougars (A) - 7th Jan 2023

Superb result today winning against u9 Elton Walshaw Cougars.

 

Having not played since 3 December a match due to the weather and not trained since 6 December, I said to the boys they can pick their own starting positions in the 1st half on the provision they give 100% in whatever positions I play them 2nd half.

 

Was backs to the wall for the first 10 minutes but when they found their feet, soon raced to a 3-0 scoreline, switched off before HT and went in 3-1 up. Bit of tiredness on our behalf and unsporting behaviour on opposing team behalf and we found ourselves 3-3.

 

I had a quick chat with them and told them to play to the whistle and not get involved in any non-football stuff and put the game to bed with two goals near the end.

 

Team man of the match voted for by parents as it’s impossible to pick one player as they all did amazingly well. Whilst I don’t want to single out any particular player, the difference having a goalkeeper who wants to play in goal was there to be seen today.
