U9s Lions vs Shawside - 19th Feb 2023

A brilliant and enjoyable battle this morning against Shawside Vasco U9s. Whilst we weren’t at our best with our distribution today , everybody dug in deep to make the other team work hard for anything.  Against the run of play Reo scored the opener with a thunderous strike after a lovely lay off by Adil .  

The game then remained tight throughout , Shawside having the better chances but all of our defence was brilliant today.

Despite all the pressure they struggled to break us down and even when they got through, Adam , who was outstanding in goal , just wasn’t for being beaten .

The pressure finally took its toll with an unfortunate own goal from a corner .

The woodwork was rattled a number of times by both teams including a brilliant long range free kick from Charlie who was finally rewarded for an outstanding debut with a late breakaway goal with a neat finish.
