Match Report
Haslingden Girls & Ladies 0 v 14 Milnrow Juniors Diamonds
It’s not often you can sit back and marvel at a performance, but for the second week running, we were afforded that luxury from the Diamonds.
The girls went over to play away to Haslingden Girls & Ladies, who last season proved tough opposition, drawing 1-1 at home and winning 3-2 away.

Once again, the girls were outstanding and strong all over the pitch; from goalkeeper to back four, midfield three and front three - who were once again frightening when chances fell to them.

It took the girls five minutes to get the first. Initially Lois had her shot blocked, then so did Libby but the rebound fell to Holly at the back post, to slot away (1-0 Diamond’s).

The girls got the second on ten minutes when the goalkeeper mis-kicked and was won by Cienna who took the ball on a couple of strides and laid off to Lois, who superbly finished (2-0).

On sixteen minutes, Keeva won the ball deep in the Diamond’s right hand side of defence and played a wonderful ball up the line to Holly, who’s cross could only be parried by the keeper to Lois, who made it 3-0!

Substitutions 20 minutes: Poppy for Ava & Ella for Libby
Substitution 30 minutes: Libby for Lois

With the early onslaught, Haslingden really started to get back into the game, playing some fine football themselves and the Diamond’s knew off past encounters, Haslingden never give up.

The game was effectively put to bed on the thirty-four-minute mark, when a long ball from defence eluded Haslingden’s defence and Holly was on hand to pick the ball up and make it 4-0.

Shortly afterwards Libby hit the post but just on half time after some wonderful football between Ella and Libby, resulted in the latter producing a great finish (5-0).

With everyone expecting the half-time whistle, the Diamond’s popped a hopeful ball up into to the Haslingden box and with only Libby up there, she produced wonderful control, a fine turn, to evade the defender and put in a sublime finish to the keeper’s left (6-0).
Half-Time: 6-0
Half-Time substitutions: Ava on for Liv

Again, the girls were asked to continue the performance from the first half and three minutes into the half, a miss-passed goal kick fell to Cienna who made no mistake in finishing (7-0). Two minutes later, Holly completed her hattrick to make it 8-0.

Substitutions 45 minutes: Lois for Holly

Libby completed her second consecutive hattrick for the Diamond’s on forty-six, when the Haslingden keeper could only parry Cienna’s shot to Libby (9-0).
Substitutions 51 minutes: Holly for Cienna
Substitutions 53 minutes: Liv for Keeva

Haslingden had a great spell of possession showing determination and narrowly missed on scoring and on sixty-four minutes, only for a fine save by Ellie, kept the clean sheet, but resulted in a brilliant counterattack with Lexie playing a great ball down the right to Holly, who cut across the defender in the box and calmly finished (10-0).
Substitution 65 minutes: Keeva for Lexie
On seventy, there was great hold up play from Lois, who fed Cienna to make it 11-0.
Substitution 70 minutes: Libby for Lexie
Captain Lois completed her hat-trick on seventy-two minutes after some lovely work by Holly (12-0).
After a corner and great determination by Ava in the box, it looked like she had got her reward for a fine performance, when the ball looked to have crossed the line but wasn’t given! But with the girl’s playing to the whistle, Libby was on hand to make it 13-0.

Three minutes before full-time and again some magnificent football from the girls, Holly fed Lois for her fourth to make it 14-0.

Full-Time: 14-0

Lois Lennon: 4

Another remarkable performance from the girls and again anyone could have got Girl of the Game, but Keeva got the vote this week from the coaches – much to the delight of the rest of the girls!
Girl of the Game
Keeva Isherwood - A really strong performance from Keeva who hasn’t put a foot wrong in two games. Very popular choice amongst the girls! - Well done Keeva!
